The Attic self-storage adds climate control

Larry Motsick, owner of The Attic self-storage, has opened his fifth location, Climate Controlled Storage by The Attic, at 1329 Deadwood Ave.  He said it's the first climate-controlled storage place in west Rapid City, with 200 units in tow stores, from a 5x5 to a 10x20 foot unit.  Units also can be combines.  The units are all under one roof in a building accessed by a renter's key.  There are 32 cameras for security, and motion-sensor lights to save power, Motsick said.  People often rent storage to store out-of-season decorations or furniture, or to stash their belongings when downsizing due to a job loss or when putting their home on the market, Motsick said.

He said climate control is step up for storage units. "We're protecting people's furniture and their personal property from the extreme temperatures,"Motsick said. "It can be damaging to wood furniture, leather, art, photo albums, and electronics." The temperature is kept around 65 egrees in the summer. Call 343-3044 or go to www.goatticstorage.com.
